From Equipment Delivery to Operating Value: Domex-E Wins Zhongkun New Materials' 2 × 600,000 t/a Natural-Gas-to-Ethylene-Glycol Project (Phase II)

Zhongkun New Materials natural-gas-to-ethylene-glycol project

Domex-E recently won the compressor package for the 95,000 Nm³/h-class air separation unit of Zhongkun New Materials' 2 × 600,000 t/a natural-gas-to-ethylene-glycol project (Phase II), and will supply an integrally geared air compressor and booster system solution for the project.

The project is not only the delivery of a key piece of equipment; it also reflects how industrial users' understanding of the value of compressors keeps evolving.

In the past, users choosing a compressor focused mainly on performance, efficiency and delivery capability. Today, as large coal-chemical and natural-gas-chemical projects become ever larger and more continuous, a compressor is no longer just a machine but an important foundation for safe, stable and efficient plant operation. At the same time, the international supply chain, access to spare parts, professional service and digital O&M keep changing, and companies' expectations of equipment suppliers are gradually shifting from "delivering equipment" to "assuring operation".

Delivering the equipment is only the starting point. How to keep equipment running stably and creating value is becoming the core question for more and more industrial users.

In response to this shift, Domex-E has in recent years kept integrating its products, services and digital capabilities. While continually improving compressor performance, it is accelerating the build-out of a service system covering the entire operating life of the equipment. From critical spare-parts assurance and professional field service to an AI digital operations platform, the company aims to extend service from responding after a failure to prediction, prevention and proactive assurance during operation, giving customers more systematic and forward-looking operational support.

For continuous production plants, the impact of a single unplanned shutdown often far exceeds the repair itself. It means not only a production stoppage but can also affect plant load, energy efficiency, product delivery and the overall rhythm of the business. Truly valuable service is not just about restoring equipment quickly, but about spotting risks before they occur and preventing failures before they happen, so that operation always stays predictable and manageable.

In May this year, at its Xinjiang service conference, Domex-E officially launched an operational assurance system for the Xinjiang region. To address Xinjiang's long supply-chain radius, limited access to OEM spare parts and the difficulty of organizing field service, the company built the system around local spare-parts assurance, professional field service and AI digital analysis, continuing to pursue its service philosophy of "zero spare-parts inventory for customers and the goal of zero unplanned shutdowns". Through a more proactive assurance model, it aims to help customers reduce inventory, cut downtime risk and devote more resources to plant operation and their business.

The Zhongkun New Materials 2 × 600,000 t/a natural-gas-to-ethylene-glycol project (Phase II) is a further application of this philosophy. As a large natural-gas-to-ethylene-glycol project, it places higher demands on the operating reliability and energy efficiency of the air separation unit and on service responsiveness. Drawing on its engineering experience with large air separation compressors and its ever-improving service system, Domex-E will provide the project with stable, reliable products, professional and efficient technical support and more complete operational assurance services, helping the plant run safely and efficiently over the long term.

For Domex-E, every project delivery marks the beginning of a long-term relationship. Going forward, Domex-E will stay centred on the operating value it creates for customers, keep deepening the integration of products, services and AI digitalization, and explore new models for operating industrial equipment, moving from equipment supply to operational assurance and from equipment value to business value, to build a safer, more efficient and more sustainable industrial future together with its customers.
