The core equipment of Chongqing Xiangyu Salt Chemical's 35,000 air separation unit, a steam-turbine-driven air compressor and booster train, passed its trial run in the early hours of 28 October 2022!
The project uses internationally advanced Siemens steam turbines and Siemens compressors, with the complete package supplied by Hangzhou Domex-E Gas Equipment Engineering Co., Ltd.
Careful checks and shipment just before the Spring Festival
The main equipment of the train was shipped in January 2022. To keep the project on schedule and save on large crane costs, the site asked for the three main machines, the condenser and the intercoolers to be set in place before the Spring Festival holiday. With little time and a heavy workload, the project manager discussed the shipping and receiving schedule with the customer several times a month in advance, had the logistics team prepare the oversized shipments early, and sequenced the shipping times of nearly two hundred crates one by one.
While the goods were being shipped, Domex-E service engineers went to site right away to inspect the foundations. The shaft line of the three machines is long, and the inspection found that the foundation axis of the three machines was skewed and did not meet installation requirements. Based on site measurements, Domex-E's service engineers gave the owner a simple, fast plan for correcting the foundations and then setting and aligning the equipment. The civil contractor completed the correction in a short time, the main equipment was set in place on schedule, and the subsequent alignment also went very smoothly.
Responding to the customer in the summer heat to complete installation
From June to August 2022, at the height of summer, site installation was also at its peak. Domex-E service engineers responded actively to the customer's needs, guiding and working with the user, the main contractor and the installation company on site to complete the installation of auxiliary equipment, piping, valves and instruments.
Overtime, joint commissioning and a successful trial run
Pre-commissioning checks on the train began in early September 2022. Siemens and Domex-E both sent experienced commissioning and mechanical engineers, who worked closely with the owner and the main contractor, China Wuhuan Engineering Co., Ltd., to complete mechanical installation checks, instrument loop checks, control logic checks, oil flushing checks, steam turbine main steam blowing and target tests, steam turbine insulation installation and all other preparations for start-up in less than a month.
On 30 September 2022, the steam turbine passed its solo run-up at the first attempt. During the National Day holiday, the service engineers stayed on site working overtime on steam turbine and air compressor alignment and all pre-start checks on the air compressor. On 13 October 2022, joint commissioning of the steam turbine and air compressor was completed. On 28 October 2022, the full steam turbine, air compressor and booster train passed its trial run at the user's site, with all indicators meeting design requirements.
While carrying out their own work on site, Domex-E's service engineers also actively helped the user coordinate among all parties. Commissioning of the whole train took a month and a half, giving strong support for bringing the air separation unit into production as soon as possible.
